Stop me if you’ve heard this one. RED MEAT WILL KILL YOU! AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
I didn’t think that this Harvard Study would have this much legs but apparently the will by most people to make red meat the scapegoat is still very strong. I’m not going to get into this too much because it’s already been done to death over the past 2 days.
I am going to point that like MOST studies, this one is also flawed. Big time flawed. Like they didn’t even try flawed. Read it yourself to see them all but here’s a few points that stick out.
- Nutrition data was collected from a questionnaire.(this is expected to eb accurate?)
- It was only collected every 4 years. (Do you remember how much meat exactly you’ve eaten over the past 4 years?)
- The group eating more meat, yeah those people were also overweight, less active, smokers.
One good thing is that they recommend eating LESS meat per week and adding some fish and poultry to the mix. With some easy math apparently you can reverse the mortality increase of red meat by eating more of the others. (???)
We all should know that too much of anything is bad for you. If you are eating red meat 3 times a day, 7 days a week, and wondering why you’re sick then you’re an idiot. So if anything this study is encouraging variety. The problem continues to be amounts and portions. Not red meat itself.
