Congratulations to Marilou Dozois-Prevost who won Gold in Weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi! Olympic weightlifting is on the rise in popularity and is in my opinion one of the most functional types of training there is. It combines strength, speed, and agility and anyone who thinks it’s just huge fat guys doing this needs to watch Marilou’s mastery in the video below. People may be concerned with the safety in this type of training but like ANY exercise, the right trainer will keep you injury free. Technique is paramount and even the lightest weight with these movements is more than enough with beginners.
